Supervision provides a dedicated space to think clearly about your clients’ presenting issues, your practice, and your development.
It offers support when the work feels demanding… challenge when blind spots appear… and space for reflection when complexity needs careful consideration.
Whether you are a trainee counsellor, newly qualified therapist or experienced practitioner, good supervision can help you feel more confident, more reflective, and better supported in the work you do.
Supervision should not feel like a demand, where you have the answers all the time.
It should feel like a space where you can think – and be open about your work.
At ThinkDuncan, we explore:
We slow things down, so clarity can appear.
Supervision typically moves through three stages:
This is the point where supervision shifts.
I offer primarily online clinical supervision across the UK, with in-person sessions available at my Newark-on-Trent office.
Most supervisees choose an online relationship.
Good supervision isn’t about having all the answers. In many cases, it involves slowing down and becoming genuinely curious, helping you to make sense of situations that may feel otherwise uncertain or complex.
Supervision at ThinkDuncan can help you to:
Supervision with ThinkDuncan is a supportive relationship where practitioners can evaluate professional standards while continuing to learn, grow and develop – throughout their careers.
At ThinkDuncan I am not going to manage your practice.
But I will encourage you to think about it clearly – so your work becomes more confident, ethical, and grounded.
Supervision works best when there is enough safety for honest reflection, combined with enough challenge to encourage professional growth and accountability.
Rather than following a rigid formula, I adapt the relationship to the individual practitioner. Everyone brings their own personality, strengths, experiences, and way of working – and supervision will respect that.
The supervision relationship should feel collaborative rather than hierarchical. My role is not to sit in judgement, but to think alongside you, helping you explore your work with greater clarity, confidence, and self-awareness. For more information click here
If you’re considering supervision, I’d welcome a conversation about where you are in your practice, what you’re looking for, and whether we might work well together.
